Exercise also increases the release of serotonin, which will send more oxygen to your brain and level your moods out.

There can be many causes for your depression, so take the time to figure out what the main cause is. This is essentially what a therapist will do, so if you can self-identify the causes of your depression, you can begin to understand your feelings and ultimately change them.

Your depression might be affected by your diet to a greater extent than you are aware of. When you eat improperly, your mental processes can become affected, prompting an undesirable pattern of depressive thinking. Fatty foods especially should be avoided as you try to plan a healthy diet.

Keeping beautiful flowers around can help perk you up. The bright colors and the soothing smells of the arrangements have evolved to make all living beings attracted to them. So, use this to your advantage and pick up some fresh flowers.


Many times when people are depressed, they want to lay in bed and withdraw from everyone and everything they once enjoyed. You should do anything but that! It is best to continue to socialize and engage in the activities you normally enjoy while working your way out of your depressive mood.
